The band put on a fantastic show for the enthusiastic audience, who applauded every solo, clapped along to Amarillo and talked to the musical director in the interval and at the end confirming what we already knew – the band is not only excited to play music they are pretty good at it as well!
The programme included music from a number of famous training band composers and arrangers, non-more so than Francis Clifford, whose wonderful original compositions are a joy to hear. Often they provide short spaces within the score for a player, or group of players, to showcase their talent. This was particularly evident in the film music suite where all sections of the band take ‘centre stage’ at some point during the performance.
Behind the scenes the support from family and friends was invaluable from making tea, running the raffle or lifting instruments into place.
Wished you hadn’t missed it? Worry not another concert is being planned as this post appears! Want to get involved? Well come along to a practice on Saturday mornings (9.30 at Thurcroft Church) or see the contact us page.
